Organic farm foods
Ciara has in recent times taken her admirable business mind to new levels. She has long dreamed of owning a farm of organically grown berries and, in 2006, acquired a Cranberry farm which was first started by Bord Na Mona as a pilot project. Ciara runs this Cranberry Farm today with her business partner, local farmer/fitter, Michael Camon. This is the only Cranberry Farm in Ireland. The freshness and quality of the berries has led to top Michelin Star Restaurants (e.g. Chapter One in Dublin City, and the Ballymaloe Cookery School) acquiring the cranberries for use within their restaurants.
Both Ciara and Michael are looking forward to this year's harvest which promises to be even larger, as additional clearing work has been carried out.
If this isn't enough to keep Ciara and Michael busy, they also help to promote tourism in the local area of Belmont, Co. Offaly, where they own three magnificent traditional thatched cottages. The cottages are 'Traditional Irish' and are in a beautiful rural and tranquil location. The cottages are 4-Star rated by Fáilte Ireland. Ciara continues to develop and grow the business with her drive and determination, trying out new ventures whilst still keeping her feet firmly on the ground. Her passion in life is to promote 'Traditional Irish', providing tourists with a real taste of Ireland.
